Ennio Morricone’s Frantic Masterpiece
The genius of Ennio Morricone’s music is his way of delving into the soul of an audience without words. Take the movie Frantic for instance. From the start, like going through a tunnel, Mr. Morricone drives you into a theme of seriousness by way of the strings, with a little taste and hint of whimsy “spoken” through the accordion. This sets an idea for a first viewer (if one thinks about it) that the subject of Frantic will be serious with a bit of a tragic-comedy element. Placing this right from the start, shows the mastery of everyone involved, mainly director Roman Polanski and composer Ennio Morricone.
