Movies-TV.

Movies-TV are a big part of my life. I was lucky to be born in the U.S. and having parents born in the Soviet Union. I got a chance to grow up in the two most strongest countries, concerning the cinema and theatre. Russian was my first language. Besides watching Crocodile Gena and Cheburashka first, I loved Tom & Jerry and Woody Woodpecker. I will share some of my favorites below and more thoroughly within each blog post.

My Favorite Movie.

My favorite movie of all time is Gentlemen of Fortune. It was a Soviet movie released in 1971 starring incredible actors: Yevgeny Leonov, Saveli Kramarov, Gyorgy Vitzin, Anatoli Papanov, and many other classic character actors. Gentlemen of Fortune is one of those comedies that makes you laugh from start to finish. Do not get me wrong. There are several heartwarming moments in this film. The primary premise of the story is that a criminal is on the run after escaping from jail, and the authorities track him down by looking for his lookalike in a kindergarten teacher. Yevgeny Leonov, who plays both roles, is able to flawlessly transform his appearance during the performance. The character of the educator takes on a criminal persona. He pretends to be a bad guy in order to assist the police in uncovering the whereabouts of a precious helmet that was hidden by the actual convicted person and his accomplices. A purely hilarious outtake of the Soviet prison system. There are countless classic movies I love. Too many to name. My top 5 movies not including Gentlemen of Fortune are: Ran, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, Once Upon A Time In America, Annie Hall, and War and Peace.

My Favorite Comedic TV Show.

For laughter sake, there is nothing more funnier than John Ritter and Three’s Company. Sanford and Son, Taxi, Cheers, Frasier, The Jeffersons, The Office, and many more incredible shows have been a huge part of my life. But, none of those precious gems helped me more, in my need to soften the pain I had of my father’s passing, than Three’s Company. The fact that John Ritter is a virtuoso of physical comedy was made abundantly clear by the fact that he starred in this show. The whole cast should also get a lot of credit for helping to make this sitcom such a success. I dare you to watch this show and not laugh constantly. This show is timeless and forever will be loved.

My Favorite Dramatic Show.

I love many hour-long TV shows. Beverly Hills, 90210, Law & Order, Magnum P.I., Kojak all are on my top 5 list. But, for overall learning of human psychology, while being impressed by their acting skills, Dynasty has to be my favorite dramatic show of all time. I have seen every episode of only two shows: Beverly Hills, 90210 and Dynasty. Most people sadly reference Dynasty to their outfits and fashion. Learn about people on this show and not the outfits. It is an exact representation of greed and the reaction towards greed by non greedy people. Blake Carrington (perfectly portrayed by John Forsythe) is the bravado American tycoon who likes to take charge. Sometimes ruthless, especially in the first season only to lighten up in subsequent episodes, life teaches him a lesson many times. The best attack at his ego comes when Blake’s ex wife, Alexis, comes back to the picture. We all remember the scenes where Alexis and Krystle, Blake’s recent wife, duke it out at the pool and in several other places. Those altercations are always entertaining. The ideas and portrayal of life does not really change since the show’s inception. Timeless qualities are what I look for in shows. Learn what works and what does not in this show and whatever thing you watch. By living in the world, you should learn way more by looking outside of yourself.
