From their first notes, the performance by the California Chamber Players (Victor Romasevich & Phil Santos, Violins; Yun-Jie Liu, Viola; and Lawrence Granger, Cello) of Iosif Andriasov’s String Quartet brings together a clean and clear picture of positive energy exhibited by the composer. I. Andriasov shows great maturity at an early age of 21, exploring, from within, and furthering the cultures of folk and traditional classical music.
A three movement composition lasting a little over twelve minutes, the performers show various moods of the composition: excitement, tenderness, and confidence. These are the three words I would describe each movement.

Victor Romasevich was a violin and viola pupil of Iosif Andriasov. Mr. Romasevich shared his experience, passion, and devotion with the performers. Philip Santos, Yun-Jie Liu, and Lawrence Granger shared Victor’s enthusiasm and aptitude for the music and composer. A truly important goal is to love who you work with and love what you do. In this recording, I can easily hear this goal come through.
When creating the YouTube video in 2011, I really wanted to focus on separating each movement with a singular idea. The first movement included information about the String Quartet and my father’s photos. The second movement was about the performers. The third movement united Iosif Andriasov’s timeline with pictures that shaped his life. The best example was including Mount Ararat in Armenia when Yun-Jie Liu performs the main theme in the third movement (9:09 into the video). Each picture, information, and timing was thought out by me to include the important qualities in my eyes. Because my father was an internationalist without prejudice towards others, I chose the globe as a final picture.
