The Idea Behind Iosif Andriasov’s Music Score

The Idea Behind Iosif Andriasov’s Music Score.

One of my many goals in life was to create a beautifully stapled book of Iosif Andriasov’s music scores. Most of his sheet music was done on the Finale program by my dad and mom, Marta Andriasova. She later opened a publishing company named IMMA Publishing Co. in New York City.

As time passed by, in Rochester, NY, I gave ideas on how Marta could write and finish a book she worked on about Iosif Andriasov. To make it a little easier, we figured it would be smart to write about every composition Iosif Andriasov wrote. This would be approximately 3-4 pages long depending on the composition. The book “Essays on the Music of Iosif Andriasov” was born in 2010.

Once finished, I was thinking to put these pages inside a book of dad’s music. But, there was a slight dilemma. A few of Iosif’s compositions are about a page or two long. Putting three pages about a composition inside a two page music composition seemed ridiculous to me. So, I took the task in finding the main points inside these essays and made a one page article about them.

Marta Andriasova created an Iosif Andriasov Timeline a while back. The list was at least 8 pages long. Again, having a two page piece with an 8 page Timeline to me seemed very unfair to the buyers of a potential music book. So, again, I made a one page version of his incredible life.

It was really important to have a beautiful front cover for his works. I made it a point to include a picture inside each composition. This way, the picture would bring an association to a particular piece.

To close out the book, it was important for me to include a paragraph about IMMA Publishing Co., and their importance to this whole project. The back page would include the founder and owner of IMMA Publishing Co. and several key points in bulletin form about the specific composition.
