Unsung Heroes: Bobby Lassiter (DJ BobYaHead)
My name is DJ BobYaHead. I am an up and coming DJ/Producer from Philadelphia, PA. At a young age, I started to discover that I had a love for music, when I used to listen to my mother, as she played some of her favorite songs on her stereo. I love all genres of music, but mostly Jazz, Hip Hop, and R&B. My passion for music didn’t really start until I got into high school, when I saw some of the upper classmates making music on the piano. This is when I realized that I wanted to be a musician. So, I made it my drive to find out how to make music on my own. Unfortunately that did not happen until I met my roommate/friend from college by the name of Atunes. He introduced me to music software Fl Studio and from that day forward, me and music were inseparable. https://airbit.com/blassiter19
Here is an interview with DJ BobYaHead done by Arshak Andriasov.
Arshak Andriasov: How would your best friends describe you?
Bobby Lassiter: As the big black sexy beast. No, I’m just playing. I believe they would say that I am supportive, funny, or goofy. Whatever I felt like being that day (laughing). And just fun to be around.
Arshak Andriasov: What’s your greatest achievement and how has it shaped you?
Bobby Lassiter: My level of musical experience that I have developed over the years, with minimal help from others.
Arshak Andriasov: If you could master one skill you don’t have right now, what would it be?
Bobby Lassiter: It would have to be the art of mixing and master songs properly up to Grammy’s quality.
Arshak Andriasov: What would be your “perfect” day?
Bobby Lassiter: It would be so much to name (laughing). A perfect day for me would consist of making music with friends, hanging out with family, eating and socializing, hitting the Powerball to pay back student loans and then some (laughing). And ending it off with some strawberry shortcake with some ice cream. “Ah, such a great fantasy.”
Arshak Andriasov: Describe us your usual day?
Bobby Lassiter: I work five days a week. Besides work, I basically sit at home catching up on some sleep or watching TV and doing something with music.
Arshak Andriasov: What motivates you to be a good person?
Bobby Lassiter: My mom, because she will kill me if I try to stray from the righteous Path (laughing) and the World, because it is so easy to be bad than it is to be good.
Arshak Andriasov: If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Bobby Lassiter: My fearfulness of the blessings of success. The reason I say that is because I am afraid to try anything that I love to do and failing at it.
Arshak Andriasov: In what ways are you the same as your childhood self?
Bobby Lassiter: I would have to say my heart. I love to see people laughing, smiling, and having fun.
Arshak Andriasov: If you were head of a major TV station for one day, what would you play?
Bobby Lassiter: That’s a tough one. Hmm. I would play the best episodes from all the comedy sitcoms till this day. Bring some laughter to people having a bad day.
Arshak Andriasov: If you could have dinner with any one person, living or dead, who would they be and why?
Bobby Lassiter: I would love to sit down with Tony Maserati. I think he is incredible. He has mixed some of my favorite songs till this day. I’m inspired by his work so much that I even bought a piece of his mixing software. If I sat down with him, I’ll probably be too much in awe to even talk to him (laughing). Tony is the man.
Arshak Andriasov: What are you most grateful for?
Bobby Lassiter: I’m grateful for God allowing me to see another day. My mom and family and good friends. And having the ability to do what I love.
Arshak Andriasov: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Bobby Lassiter: I don’t know. It was Jamaica, but I have been there. I truly do not know. That will be something I have to look into.
Arshak Andriasov: What do you love to do during your spare time?
Bobby Lassiter: If we did not establish this throughout the whole interview, it is basically music (laughing). I’m a music fanatic, even if I’m just listening to it.
Arshak Andriasov: What advice would you give our reader?
Bobby Lassiter: Whatever you do in life, do not allow fear to hold you back from your dreams or future accomplishments. It will leave you in a standstill in life. Just keep moving, even if you have to take one step at a time. Move at the pace that makes you comfortable. Just Move.
Bobby has been a good friend of mine. He has a really kind heart, giving his all no matter what the job could be. I am truly happy to consider him a good friend and these kinds of people are tough to find.
I created the Unsung Hero series to share the lives of kind people. Everyday people try to help the world as best they can and it is truly important to value everyone. There are two things I hope to accomplish with this series: 1. That people will not take anyone for granted and 2. Those kind people, who better all of our lives in so many facets, will know that not all of humanity brush them off. We all have ways to bring goodness to the world and there is no one above another.
