16 Themes in 16 Measures for Clarinet, Op. 16

16 Themes

16 Themes in 16 Measures for Clarinet, Op. 16.

In 2016, I wrote a piece named 16 Themes in 16 Measures for Clarinet, Op. 16. The World Premiere of four out of the sixteen compositions took place in San Francisco, CA by Lawrence London.

I always wanted to write compositions for solo instruments without accompaniment. I started this idea for Piano, then moved to Flutists and Piccolo performers. With this composition, I tackled the Clarinet instrument. Understanding the complex and vibrant possibilities for Clarinet, I needed to create an idea that would be interesting to start this project. Due to the fact that the year was 2016, I thought of writing 16 themes in 16 measures.

I said that “I really liked composing this piece due to the fact that there are so many moods in a person and the clarinet can definitely depict them and more. This is why I chose the Clarinet for such a special occasion.”
